A regulated power supply is an electronic circuit which converts unregulated AC or irregular AC input into a regulated steady and constant DC output. Thisoperation is completed using a rectifier which converts AC supply into DC. Its function is to supply a stable voltage in accordance with the current requirement, to a circuit or device that is operated within a particular voltage and current rating. The output from the regulated power supply may be alternating or unidirectional, but it is most of the time DC.
