Description:

This lab apparatus is used to measure the local velocity at a given point in the flow stream. A pitot tube of internationally acceptable standard design made of copper or SS is supplied with the apparatus and is fitted below vernier scale. Placement of the vernier scale is designed to ensure that it can measure the position of Pitot Tube in transparent section. The pipe is fitted with a flow control valve to regulate the flow. A differential water manometer is also provided to determine the velocity head.

The latest apparatus is a self-reliant water re-circulating unit, provided with a sump tank and a centrifugal pump etc. Flow in the water line is adjusted by Flow control valve and by-pass valve to conduct the experiment on different flow rates. Flow rate of water is measured with the help of markings provided on the measuring tank and stop watch.
