Quincke's tube method
The principle of operation of this experiment is to find magnetic susceptibility of a given solution by Quincke's tube method. This experimental setup comprises of a pair of electromagnets and a quincke's tube in which the sample is taken. This tube is designed in U shape which has two limbs. One of the two limbs is intentionally designed to be of very narrow width as compared to the second one. The reason behind creating this design is to keep the change in the level of the liquid in the narrow limb unaffected from the level in the wider limb. Digital gauss meter is used to check the variation in magnetic field. The rise in liquid by the application of magnetic field is measured using a traveling microscope which is provided with the experimental set-up.
